This month we will review Rule 14. Procedures for Ball: Marking, Lifting and Cleaning; Replacing on Spot; Dropping in Relief Area; Playing from Wrong Place. Rule 14 covers when and how the player may mark the spot of a ball at rest and lift and clean the ball and how to put a ball back into play so that the ball is played from the right place.
A mistake in using these procedures may be corrected without penalty before the ball is played, but the player gets a penalty if they play the ball from the wrong place.

Ball Position:
In your setup, ball position is a vital key to solid, consistent contact. As you set up for your shot, ball position changes based on the club of choice. For driver, you want the ball up off of the inside of the front heel, and progressing back toward the middle of the stance the shorter and higher lofted the club you are using. Using alignment sticks in your practice sessions can help lock in good practice habits that can transition on to the course.
