Rule 14 - Procedures for Ball: Marking, Lifting and Cleaning; Replacing on Spot; Dropping in Relief Area; Playing from Wrong Place.
Ball position
A lot of amateur golfers tend to work the ball toward the front of their stance with irons in particular in an attempt to help the ball into the air. By doing so, players will either move laterally toward the target rather than rotate and turn or will make impact with the top half of the ball causing low, thin shots. Most iron shots should be played halfway from the front heel, and the middle of the stance. This will give you a better opportunity to strike the ball with a downward blow which in turn will increase spin and distance.
